Welcome Back!  I hope you enjoyed your summer!  I would like to continue your success in school with a motivating and challenging year in the English classroom.  Get ready...get set...go!

9th Grade English:  Students will be introduced to the expectations of the class on Monday.  In order to grasp the cultural identity of WWII for preparation of the novel Night by Elie Wiesel, students will be viewing The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.  Literary elements and devices will be introduced and the Cornell Note taking method will be used to demonstrate comprehension of the story and the application of the literary elements and devices.  Both will be used for application to a newspaper project in the coming weeks.  A writing prompt will be assigned for quality of writing and assessment of grammar.

Public Speaking:  In the beginning, students will be required to read, comprehend and take notes on the text, preparing them for the requirements of Public Speaking, which includes the utilization of research skills that they will need for the semester.
